German Shepherd dog Blondi was a gift from Martin Bormann for Hitler, stayed with him even after his move into the Führerbunker located underneath the garden of the Reich Chancellery on January 16, 1945. She played a role in Nazi propaganda by portraying Hitler as an animal lover, and died in 29 April 1945.
Below are some of vintage photographs capture Hitler with Blondi from the early 1940s.

ReplyDelete"After breakfast every morning Hitler walked Blondi in the wild area around his bunker. He was very fond of the dog which he entrusted to a keeper (Tarnow). She was a very docile and clever dog, able to do some tricks such as balancing on a pole, jumping a two-metre high wall and climb a ladder." — Christa Schroeder (The Führer's secretary)
