Born 1870 in Amsterdam, Dutch artist Johann Georg van Caspel was trained as a figure and portrait painter, but was also a book-binder, calendar and brochure designer, and an architect.

Van Caspel made a number of posters for the Amand Printing Company in Amsterdam and illustrated picture books in Art Nouveau style, including The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods and A fairytale by Mother the Goose for Charles Perrault.
Van Caspel eventually worked in architecture and designing mansions in the area of Gooi. Here below is a set of amazing posters designed by Johann Georg van Caspel in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
