In 1963, a German cookbook offering Bananas wrapped in pickled herring. Ingredients for Banana herring:
0.5 dl Cream0.5 dl Mayonnaise1 Banana1 tsp Paprika powder1 tsp Mustard6 Herring fillets preferably aromatic herring.
To prepare the Banana herring recipe, please follow these instructions:
Stir in mayonnaise, cream, mustard and paprika together. Mix banana, cut into cubes in herring fillets in nice fork. Slice bites and mix them careful into the sauce, or herring strips put on fat and benefit the sauce over.
Garnish the dish with for example peach into dices.
A good dish to serve unwanted guests or for a potluck organized by your enemy. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteI'm from Germany. We had this dish every Sunday. But good friends stopped coming at some point. No, just kidding. But there was actually a cook book with an innocent title: Dare it with bananas / "Wag es mit Bananen" from 1971.
