Bon Jovi is an American rock band formed in Sayreville, New Jersey in 1983. The band consists of singer Jon Bon Jovi, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, guitarists John Shanks and Phil X, percussionist Everett Bradley, and bassist Hugh McDonald.
The band was riding high on the success of their 1988 album New Jersey, which had cemented their status as global rock superstars. They were known for their energetic performances, anthemic rock songs, and charismatic frontman, Jon Bon Jovi.
After a brief hiatus in the early 1990s, Bon Jovi returned with a new sound and image. They released the double-platinum Keep the Faith, which included the hit “Bed of Roses”. This was followed by their biggest-selling and longest-charting single “Always” in 1994. The album had a more mature, introspective sound with influences from rock and pop.
By the late 1990s, Bon Jovi was less active as a band. Jon Bon Jovi pursued a solo career, releasing Destination Anywhere in 1997. The album received positive reviews and showcased his ability to experiment with different sounds. Richie Sambora also released solo work, including his album Undiscovered Soul in 1998.
