Marie displayed an interest in acting as a child, making her film debut at the age of four in Mon Amour, Mon Amour (1967), directed by her mother. While the couple was in Vilnius, Lithuania, an argument escalated, leading to physical violence. Marie suffered severe head injuries and was hospitalized but passed away on August 1, 2003, at the age of 41. Her death sent shockwaves through France and the international film community.
